Photo Album: Whale Watching

In late summer and fall, many varieties of whales spend time feeding in our rich coastal waters. That is when we head East out to the offshore waters of Mt. Desert Rocks, where we have a great chance to see them. The hydrophone is deployed to give us a chance to listen to, as well as observe these gentle giants. We'll also keep an eye out for seals; and Storm Petrel, Shearwater, Gannets and many other pelagic seabirds.

Also see our 2010 cruises in Alaska, where there will be exceptional whale watching opportunities- For example cruising the ocean waters around Petersburg, AK which are the summer home to over 500 humpback whales.
